1st Graders learned about Camille Saint-Saens and his composition, "Carnival of the Animals" during January and February. Each of the 14 pieces represents an animal. You can see below how we experienced 'Aquarium' using our really big, blue scarf as our water and lots of fish swimming underneath. Later, the children were assigned teams and animals. In these groups, they were to create music to represent their assigned animals. The goals of the project were to work together, use instruments that reflect the animal/movements/location, and be sure to plan their piece so the performers know when to start and stop. Hard work can be noisy....
