"The Missing Tarts" by B.G. Hennessy and Tracey Campbell Pearson serves as the inspiration for the
1st Grade Portfolio Share on Thursday, May 28.
Students are using these traditional rhymes as the foundation for musical experiences.
The texts provide the rhythmic setting, and then creative movement, instrument playing, singing, are all layered on top.
These are all activities that our first graders use in music class throughout the school year. We may clean them up a little bit, but our performance will be more of an 'informance' where you can see how musical skills are learned.
Children will be invited to wear their favorite SPRAGUE SCHOOL gear, and shoes that tie or close securely.
Here are some of the rhymes we are using:
The Queen of Hearts
Jack and Jill
Old King Cole
Hey, Diddle Diddle
Jack Be Nimble
Little Bo Peep
Little Boy Blue
Here's another song the children are learning for their finale: "Hey, May" by Teresa Jennings and Paul Jennings
I will post them song very soon!
